A socialist California mayor with a history of posting antisemitic conspiracy theories was let off the hook Tuesday as his City Council pals voted not to censure him despite widespread outrage.

Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez – a member of the ultra-left Democratic Socialists of America – got off without a reprimand in a 5-2 censure vote weeks after he shared vile posts claiming the Bondi Beach terrorist attack was a “false flag” operation and blamed Israel for antisemitism.

Several council members said since they didn’t have time to review the resolution in advance – which set off those who pushed the censure.

“To say that you didn’t have an opportunity to read a resolution does not negate the fact that we have a responsibility as a council to answer to the community,” Councilmember Jamelia Brown, the co-author of the motion said.

“If you have a pulse and you’re in the city of Richmond, then you know what’s transpired,” Brown added. “You know what’s going on.”

The resolution is back on the agenda for the Jan. 20 meeting.

Despite the members voting down the motion, at least 100 residents voiced their opposition and frustration at the lack of accountability for the mayor.

There were also anti-Israel activists who showed support for the mayor, in a split and tense Bay Area city council meeting.

“Complaining about feelings over a repost is white supremacy,” one speaker said, according to a X post.
