American Airlines flights grounded nationwide due to IT outage: FAA

WASHINGTON —The Federal Aviation Administration late on ​Tuesday issued a ground ‌stop for American Airlines flights due to an IT ​outage, according to ​a notice posted on the ⁠agency’s website.

The FAA and ​American Airlines did not ​immediately comment on the ground stop issued around 6:30 p.m ​ET but American ​said on social media: “Our IT team ‌is ⁠working as quickly as possible to get our system back up.”

The ​notice ​means ⁠flights cannot depart until the issue ​is resolved. It came ​as ⁠many US East Coast airports are experiencing significant ⁠delays ​and ground stops ​due to thunderstorms.
