An “armed and dangerous” Massachusetts woman is wanted by authorities after her veteran police officer husband was found dead in her home.
A large manhunt is underway for Karen Solomon, 58, after cops arrived at her Worcester home for a call about a medical emergency and found the dead off-duty patrolman, according to police and reports.
The local police union identified the dead cop as 57-year-old Kurt Solomon, a veteran cop with the Worcester Police Department with two adult sons.
“Kurt was a loved and respected member of our department with 31 years,” NEPBA Local 911 President Officer Thomas Duffy said. “When you serve 31 years with an individual you become more than coworkers, you become family and today we lost a member of our family.”
Authorities said that state laws around domestic violence prevent them from saying what Solomon’s relationship was with the slain officer, but sources told WBZ-TV that Kurt is Karen’s husband.
Karen has also said that she’s married to a Worcester police officer, according to a 2016 interview with the TV station, which detailed an app she was developing for police officers in crisis.
She was last seen wearing pajama shorts and a tank top on a street near her home.
Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier told WBZ-TV that Karen is “presumed to be armed and dangerous.”
The Worcester County District Attorney’s offices said Karen is being sough “for questioning” in connection with her husband’s death.
“You want to do everything you can to find that person as quickly as possible and also find out what happened in the house that evening,” Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said.
