President Trump teased Tuesday that he will make a “very, very big announcement” that will be “earth-shattering” before he jets off next week on a highly anticipated visit to the Middle East.
“We’re going to have a very, very big announcement to make, like as big as it gets,” Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “And I won’t tell you on what … and it’s very positive.”
Carney played along, telling the president when asked to speak that he was “on the edge of my seat.”
Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates May 13-16 — and suggested he could make the announcement Thursday, Friday or Monday ahead of his departure.
“It’s not about trade, it’s about something else — but it’s going to be a truly earth-shattering and positive development for this country and for the people of this country,” he later said at the White House.
Sources close to the administration told The Post Tuesday evening they weren’t certain about what the announcement could be.
