Yes and no. Our top picks take excellent photos. They usually have modes that, similar to most phone cameras, combine multiple images into one. This produces an image with greater contrast than a single image could on its own.
However, they have their limits. All action cameras have wide-angle lenses to capture as much of a scene as possible. They’re terrible for headshots, closeups or anything in the distance.
