A man barricaded himself inside a car Friday afternoon after driving onto the sidewalk in front of Los Angeles City Hall, prompting evacuations and a massive police response, officials said.
The bizarre incident began shortly after 4 p.m. when Los Angeles Police Department officers received reports of a vehicle that mounted the curb near the building’s front steps, LAPD said.
Police said the driver appeared to act deliberately, leading officers to set up a perimeter around the scene.
Video from the FOX 11 news chopper showed handwritten signs displayed on the dashboard of the car.
One of the signs appeared to include President Trump’s name.
This is a developing story.
