Confidence in Democratic congressional leadership plummeted to an all-time low of 25%, according to a new poll.

The Gallup poll conducted between April 1-14 and released Thursday found that the confidence rating sunk nine points below the previous low-water mark for Democrats – 34% – which was recorded in 2023.

The current rating is also well below the 45% average confidence level that Americans have had in Democratic congressional leadership since 2001.

The stunning lack of faith in congressional Dems appears to be driven by members of the Democratic party.

“Democratic congressional leaders’ rating among their own party faithful has fallen 41 points since last year to their lowest point ever,” Gallup said.

“The previous low for Democratic congressional leaders among Democrats was 60%, recorded in 2005,” the pollster added. “For their part, Republicans’ confidence in their own party’s congressional leaders has never fallen below 42%.”

Confidence in GOP congressional leadership was measured at 39% – comfortably above the 24% low Republicans faced in 2014 and not far off from the party’s historical average of 43%.

It has been more than a decade since either party received at least a 50% confidence rating, according to Gallup.

Democratic congressional leadership last had a majority level in 2009, whereas it’s been since 2003 for GOP leadership in Congress.

Since Inauguration Day, Democrats in Congress have appeared incapable of slowing down President Trump from implementing his second-term agenda.

Democrats lost control of the Senate and Republicans made gains in the House after the November elections.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) faced backlash last month after he voted with Republican senators to advance a spending bill which also averted a government shutdown.

Protests organized by leftist groups popped up across the country demanding that the longtime senator resign his leadership post over the vote.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other Democratic lawmakers publicly criticized Schumer for voting with the GOP, with the congresswoman suggesting that the senator gave his vote to Republicans “for nothing.”
