The colors for Apple’s iPhone 17 and 17 Air handsets were purportedly leaked last week, but there was no mention of the 17 Pro lineup. As of Thursday, that’s no longer the case thanks to another leak. And the iPhone 17 Pro lineup might be in for a much bolder selection of colors when it drops later this year.
Spotted by 9to5 Mac, well-known leaker Majin Bu added a new post to their blog, complete with renders of the four new colors the iPhone 17 Pro lineup will potentially consist of, including a wild new orange option. I’m a sucker for an orange phone, so maybe we’ll see even more in the future if Apple goes up to bat with the color this year.
The iPhone 17 is rumored to receive multiple design changes when it arrives. One of these rumors is that the Pro model’s camera housing on the back of the phone will be updated and look somewhat similar to what Google has been doing with its Pixel phones for years. Another change we could see is a bump in screen size for the baseline iPhone 17, bringing it up from 6.1 inches to line up with the 6.3-inch Pro model.
What are the reported iPhone 17 Pro color options?
According to Majin Bu, there will be four colors to choose from this year, and the information reportedly comes from an accessory manufacturer as well as unnamed sources close to Apple.
Here are the color options we may get for the iPhone 17 Pro lineup this year:
- Black
- Silver
- Dark Blue
- Orange
The black and silver (or white) options are almost expected at this point, and dark blue, while very much welcomed, isn’t all too surprising. What is, though, is the bold new orange handset that’s inspired by the Action Button on the Apple Watch Ultra. It’s lively but easy on the eyes and will likely satisfy those who’ve been wanting a more colorful iPhone Pro.
There may be another color to expect, too. Majin Bu says that Apple is currently testing another color for its devices but doesn’t specify what device specifically, so if we do see another color drop, there’s no guarantee it’ll be for the Pro lineup.
Apple representatives didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, but the company has traditionally unveiled its latest iPhone in September for a while now, so we may not have much longer to wait until we find out exactly what’s in store for us this year.
