iPhone Air or 17 Pro? Apple Doesn’t Make the Preorder Choice Easy

Apple’s new iPhones are here and for the first time, I’m second-guessing which model would be the best upgrade choice. I’m always pulled to get the top of the line model — which would be the iPhone 17 Pro. But Apple completely changed the equation this year by adding the iPhone Air. The ultra-thin and durable design introduces a fun style while also boasting some Pro features.

Do I skip out on trying something new and edgy, or stick with the top-of-the-line Pro for it’s larger battery and better camera?

In this week’s episode of One More Thing, embedded above, I break down why this decision is hard for the fan who wants to be an early adopter with the best gear.

With the introduction of a new iPhone design, perhaps the customer who usually is confident enough to jump on an early preorder finds themselves waiting a few more days to feel the difference in person and make the choice in a store. And Apple makes some big boasts about cameras in the Air, making it worth it to wait for reviews to see how photos with the Air stack up against a Pro.

The Pro model is about $100 more than the Air, leaving fans to question just how much it’s worth it to experiment with a new style in their upgrade. (But hey, Apple does have a two-week return window, if you regret your choice.)
