Unruly traveler restrained on Delta flight after allegedly biting, hitting passengers

An unruly airplane passenger had to be restrained on board after allegedly biting and hitting other travelers on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles.

The bizarre incident, which involved an adult male passenger, happened Shortly after Delta Flight 501 landed at LAX Monday night, the man allegedly biting one passenger and hitting several others, ABC 7 reported.

The aggressive passenger was taken by ambulance to the hospital for psychological evaluation, LAFD officials said. The ambulance later returned to the airport to examine a traveler the man had injured.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and will work with law enforcement authorities,” spokesperson Samantha Moore Facteau told the outlet.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the man’s kicking and biting spree or whether he would face charges.

There have been over 300 reports of unruly passengers so far this year, according to the FAA.

Over 2,100 reports of unruly passengers were logged in 2024.

“The FAA pursues legal enforcement action against any passenger who assaults, threatens, intimidates, or interferes with airline crewmembers, and can propose civil penalties up to $37,000 per violation,” the FAA said in a statement.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
