Firefighters were captured on camera battled rising floodwaters to save a helpless dog trapped in a storm drain in Southern California.
San Bernardino County fire crews responded to a report Wednesday of the unlucky pooch stuck behind a drainage gate near the intersection of Sterling Avenue and Lynwood Drive in the Belvedere neighborhood, officials said.
They arrived to find the pup penned in as water rushed from the drain, ultimately working with crews from the San Bernardino County Public Works and Animal Services to free the animal.
It’s unclear how the dog got stuck. Storms had dumped heavy rain on the region.
After rescuers freed the dog, it was handed over to the San Bernardino City Department of Animal Services to be cared for and provided shelter.
