The beloved nature enthusiast who helped launched the wildly popular Big Bear bald eagle cam has tragically passed away.

Wildlife activist Sandy Steers spearheaded the livestream trained on the nest of famous eagle couple Jackie and Shadow in 2015, inviting viewers to watch the devoted pair brave heavy winters to keep their eggs warm.

“It is with heavy hearts and great sadness to let our Friends of Big Bear Valley eagle family know that Sandy Steers passed away,” the group announced on social media.

For more than a decade, the wildlife activist guided the nest cam, captivating audiences and championing environmental advocacy as executive director of the nonprofit.

Viewers worldwide tuned in through the years to watch Jackie and Shadow, who welcomed their first egg of the year late last month.

Observers then looked on in shock as a raven swooped down and attacked the nest while Jackie and Shadow were away.

It wasn’t clear what caused Steers’s death or how old she was when she died.
