Caught-in-the-act!
Selfies clicked by two Hayward men during a burglary led to their arrests for allegedly stealing $100,000 worth of items from an American Canyon business.
The duo allegedly swiped tools, copper wire and vehicles Monday, cops said. The American Canyon Police Department identified the two stolen vehicles and put out a notice for other law enforcement agencies.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office nabbed one of the thieves driving the stolen car. The American Canyon Police Department responding to the scene found evidence on 53-year-old Daniel Lemas that included photographs of him committing the heist.
“He was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for numerous felony crimes associated with burglary,” the American Canyon Police Department said in social media post.
A day later, the Hayward Police Department stopped the second vehicle and arrested 49-year-old Dennis Tylij for conspiracy to commit a crime, the cops said.
Authorities served a search warrant at the 3200 block of Arden Road and found some of the property that had been reported stolen from the American Canyon business.
Both alleged burglars were booked into Napa County jails. Lemas was released from the correctional facility after posting a $25,000 bail while Tylij continues to be in custody as of Friday afternoon, The California Post has learned.
