Cops killed a gun-wielding madman when he refused to drop his weapon outside a Queens home engulfed in flames on Saturday — and then discovered two of family members dead inside, police and sources said.
The NYPD responded to Ocean Crest Boulevard near Hartman Lane in Far Rockaway after receiving a 911 call around noon of shots fired police said.
When they arrived, officers found the home engulfed in flames, possibly from an explosion, police sources said.
The gunman, who was clad in a bulletproof vest and wielding a shotgun, then confronted cops who were outside the home, the sources said.
The suspect was shot by multiple officers after refusing “numerous commands to drop the shotgun,” a police source said.
Inside the home, cops found two bodies with bullet wounds inside the home — who were believed to be the man’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law, sources told The Post.
The suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was undergoing surgery, the sources said.
