An unidentified straphanger fell to his death between Brooklyn train cars during a scuffle with someone who took his backpack early Tuesday, cops and sources said.
The man realized he had left his bag on board a Manhattan-bound No. 3 train while getting off at the New Lots Avenue station at Livonia Avenue in East New York around 12:45 a.m. and quickly hopped back on, law enforcement sources said.
When he spotted an apparent stranger with his bag, the two riders started fighting between cars, the sources said.
The victim fell onto the tracks during the fracas, according to the sources.
First responders found him unconscious and unresponsive on the roadbed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A black backpack and a black sneaker with white stripes could still be seen on the platform behind yellow crime scene tape as cops investigated.
A person of interest was being interviewed Tuesday, but was being uncooperative, the sources said.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
