A Southern California beach was transformed into a furry wiener wonderland Saturday with dachshund owners from across the country showing up with their pups for the annual SoCal Wienerfest.
Thousands flocked to Huntington Beach for a day of dachshund-filled fun, featuring races, costume contests, vendors and more.
Pictures and videos from the paws-itively terrific day featured adorable dogs dressed up, pet lovers and members of the community having fun in the sun on the beach.
A wiener dog named “Barbie” anxiously awaited her turn while getting ready to strut her stuff in the “Best Beach Outfit” contest. She was all decked out in pink and beads.
Her owner said it was her second time at the festival, the first time for her pup, as she explained how she wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Attendees labeled the event “wonderful,” “amazing,” “a good time,” and more.
There was even a giant wiener dog on the beach that guests could pose next to with their pups.
This year’s event marks the 10th anniversary for the wiener-shaped pups event at Huntington Beach.
And while the contests are fun, the big event that draws the massive crowd of spectators is the Dachshund Derby, in which dozens of wiener dogs race for the finish line and the chance to be the top dog.
Billed as the “the biggest sausage fest in Southern California,” the annual festival welcomes dachshund lovers from the area and across the country for a day of dog races and activities on the beach, per the website.
“Our goal is to have fun celebrating our love for our little wieners, to promote rescues and adoptions of local pups, and to raise awareness about IVDD ((Intervertebral Disc Disease),” a message on the site read.
IVDD is a spinal condition that greatly affects Dachshunds, causing severe pain, nerve damage and more.
Judging by all the pictures and videos a good time was had by all.
And if you missed this year’s event, fear not, there’s always next year, with attendees saying they can’t wait for the next one.
